Corrie’s Tina Launches Silent Spinathon

Tina and Humphrey Bear
Friday 04th September 2015

Coronation Street actress Tina O’Brien is supporting the launch of a brand new fundraising event in aid of Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.

The Silent Spin, a three-hour static bike spinning session, will take place on the Lowry Plaza at Salford Quays on Saturday 3rd October. Up to eighty participants will be put through their paces by fitness instructors from event partner, Virgin Active. To help the spinners to keep up the tempo they will all be provided with Silent Disco headphones, streaming tracks specially chosen by the fitness instructors.

The event is raising money to support projects which will enhance the experience of the 220,000 children and their families who access services at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital every year.

Charity supporter, Tina, who recently returned to the long-running soap as Sarah-Louise Platt, is a keen fitness fan, having quickly regained her figure following the birth of her baby boy Beau last year. Commenting on the Silent Spin event, she said:

“I’m a great fan of spinning classes and know from my own experience how hard a workout the Silent Spin will be. This is a great way for fellow fitness enthusiasts to really challenge themselves whilst raising money for the very best of causes and I’m very proud to support Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity in launching this event.”

Hannah Thomas, Events Manager for RMCH Charity, said,

“The Silent Spin will be a fantastic day for anyone who enjoys keeping fit, perfectly combining the fun element of the Silent Disco with the genuine challenge of the intense spinning session. We are very grateful to Tina for supporting our launch and know that her approach to health and fitness will be an inspiration to many, hopefully prompting them to sign up for this inaugural event.”

Places are limited and are £20 per person, with a request to raise a minimum of a further £100 in sponsorship. For further information or to book your place on the Silent Spin contact the Charity team on charity.events@cmft.nhs.uk or call 0161 276 4522.
