Cabbage Patch Kids Welcome Special Guest for PJ Day
A Heywood pre-school won a visit from a very special guest to celebrate Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity’s annual PJ Day.
Humphrey Bear, the mascot for the Children’s Hospital, visited Cabbage Patch Pre-School, based at St Margaret’s School, to meet the children participating in the fundraising day. The 50+ youngsters wore their pyjamas to pre-school on Wednesday in exchange for a small donation to the Hospital charity.
Cabbage Patch was picked at random as the winner from over 50 participating pre-schools, playgroups and nurseries. As well as the visit from Humphrey and a bumper pack of goodies from the Charity, the winners will be treated to a session from Rhythm Time, a music and singing class for babies, toddlers and pre-school children which helps to develop confidence, creativity and coordination.
Rhythm Time Cheshire has also supported this year’s event by hosting PJ Day Parties at 96 of their classes throughout Cheshire during the past week.
All monies raised by PJ Day will go towards funding Giggle Doctors, a group of children’s entertainers who visit youngsters on the wards at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to help raise spirits and make spending time in hospital more enjoyable.
Angela Rowe, Community Fundraising Manager for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, said:
“We have had an incredible response to this year’s PJ Day and we would like to thank every nursery, playgroup and pre-school who have taken part. Our particular thanks must also go to Rhythm Time in Cheshire for their outstanding support.
“PJ Day is a great opportunity for little ones to get involved in fundraising, learning that even at such a very young age that they can actively do something to help bring a smile to poorly children in hospital.”
