Creating Therapeutic Sound Environments - £43,974

Music is proven to help reduce the impact of hospitalisation and illness, giving children the access to play and self-expression.

The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is an area of high noise, high stress and anxiety which is acutely experienced by patients, families and staff alike. Research shows, that on average,  patients only get 3 hours of quality sleep per day in this environment; this is often broken and interrupted.

We would like to develop a bespoke music programme in PICU to use live music to enhance the ward environment as part of a broader initiative to reduce noise, stress and anxiety in the setting.
