ForViva presents £22,000 cheque to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital

ForViva Cheque presentation
Thursday 14th April 2016

ForViva, a housing group based in Eccles has raised a staggering £22,000 for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity.

The company selected to support Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital as its spotlight charity of the year through its Get Involved Find Time (GIFT) initiative, raising money to support the enhancement of the hospital’s Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, one of the largest of its kind in the UK.

Children undergoing a bone marrow transplant will be hospitalised for anywhere between several weeks to six months. Throughout this time they are cared for in isolation, unable to leave their cubicle throughout their stay and with only a handful of family or friends allowed to visit.

The enhancement to the unit aims to make that long stay in hospital as pleasant as it could possibly be, by providing much-needed entertainment systems and colourful artwork for each isolation cubicle, providing stimulus for young patients and the opportunity to enjoy activities with their visiting family.

ForViva employees took part in a wide range of fundraising activities, from Payroll Giving to a charity golf day which raised £8,000 in total. Staff also took part in a number of regular sporting events, as part of the company’s Get Active pledge.  One group of employees took on the ambitious challenge of running 130 miles in 5 days around 13 of the main lakes in the Lake District.

Lisa Scully, Director of Business Transformation at ForViva comments:

“Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital does so much to support young patients and their families and it has been a real honour for us to help raise vital funds to help continue this work. The amount our staff have raised has exceeded even our own expectations so we’re absolutely delighted that it’s going to such an important cause.”

Joel Oxberry, Corporate Fundraising Manager for Royal Manchester Children’s Charity added:

“We’re incredibly thankful for the dedication and hard work of all the staff at ForViva; the amount of money they have raised is just fantastic. The enhancement of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit is an incredibly important project at our Children’s Hospital, and the money raised will make a big difference to the children who spend long periods of time on the unit.”
