Story: Andy’s six year old daughter has a rare brain tumour and is currently being treated with weekly chemotherapy appointments. The whole Sykes Family, their friends and Pixie-Belle’s school have been avid supporters of RMCH Charity, ever since Pixie-Belle was diagnosed at the hospital last year.
Andy and Pixie-Belle starred in the Great Manchester Run 10K video for RMCH Charity, in a scene where Pixie-Belle draws a superhero, which morphs into her dad.
And just last month, Andy ran both the Manchester and London Marathons in aid of RMCH Charity’s iMRI Appeal and is excited about the Great Manchester Run.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to this race. Since starring in the video my daughter and I have inspired a group of 22 of our family and friends to sign up. They’re a group of runners and non-runners called Pixie’s Belles, named after my daughter.
“We hope to raise as much as we can towards the iMRI Appeal.
“This day will be a great celebration of a fantastic achievement for all the 22 who have joined us and that finish line moment will be huge for all involved.”
Andy’s thoughts on Team 10: "I feel privileged to have been asked to be part of the team. I genuinely feel a lot of love towards RMCH. Running in Team 10 was always going to be a ‘yes’ from me. Pixie-Belle and my son Zac will be cheering me on and they get so excited to see the medal and give me a hug."
